Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for it is now that God favors what you do.
~Ecclesiastes 9:7 (NIV)
I hated working out. I loved food with no real control. My life was lived on indulgences. On Christmas Day 2012, that changed. I decided to meet a man face to face who had already paid my dues long before. 2013 was certainly a new year. I love the way the gym makes me feel. I still love food…but respect it and its purpose. And my life is lived on eternal joy.
…That is the visionary way to put it. I’m a human. I’m not perfect, nor do I try to be. Luckily we aren’t called to be perfect and there is no way for us to be perfect. And that’s okay. Some days I decide to skip the gym because I’d rather be lazy. I’ll make a disaster recipe and order Dominos (and cinnastix). And I fight being irritable.
Welcome to the daily challenges and triumphs in the kitchen, faith and life! As Jack Johnson states, “it’s always better when we’re together.”
Grab the popcorn. It’s a never ending journey.
